Dr. Anthony Hadden is a board-certified neurosurgeon with fellowship training in spinal surgery from Cedars-Sinai Institute for Spinal Disorders in Los Angeles, California. He specializes in complex spine injuries and disorders and minimally invasive spine surgeries. His unique approach to complex spine strives to recreate normal balance of the spine. His goal is to bring life back to his patients.

His clinical experience includes a wide range of spinal disorders including complex spine, minimally invasive spine, degenerative spine, traumatic spine, spinal cord injuries, tumors, infections, congenital spinal anomalies, spinal vascular malformations and spinal deformity disorders.

Dr. Hadden received his M.D. at Loma Linda School of Medicine and his M.P.H., Health Administration, at Loma Linda University School of Public Health.  Dr. Hadden began his career in neurosurgery as a resident at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Initially drawn to the complexity of the brain, specifically brain tumors and aneurysms, he eventually gravitated towards spine surgery and the mechanical characteristics of the spine that provided a greater parallel to his innate ability to find and fix problems.

He continued his training at the University of California at Irvine where he completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Reeve Irvine Research Center. He went on to complete a second fellowship in complex spine disorders at the Cedars-Sinai Institute for Spinal Disorders under Dr. J. Patrick Johnson.

Today Dr. Hadden is a recognized expert in the field, with research published in several distinguished medical journals. He joined Dr. Kent Yundt as partner at Northwest Brain & Spine in Bend, Oregon in 2006. He has also served as Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.

Dr. Hadden strongly believes in the power of the patient-doctor relationship. He encourages patient empowerment and ownership of decisions with trusted, compassionate, long-term guidance and follow-up. He believes in working smarter to create an educated patient experience that promotes healing and recovery from pain.

In his time off, Dr. Hadden enjoys all of the outdoor adventure Central Oregon offers, including snowmobiling, snowboarding and kayaking. Whether it’s his exercise routine, anatomical knowledge or dietary recommendations, he often shares with his patients the power of a strong core in terms of its yields for the health of the spine and the greater human body it supports.

Originally from Southern California, Dr. Hadden now lives in Bend with his wife Tawnyee, also a Crossfit Level One Certified trainer, and children Mayrn, Anthony and Camdyn.
